One Day Date Itinerary in Seoul for Couples

In this post, I will be sharing some ideas that you can use for your date(s) in Seoul. I will try to cover as many places but if you have other suggestions, leave them in the comment box below 😉

Romantic Couples

For the romatic couples out there who loves doing lovey dovey stuff, you can consider starting the day by going to the palaces wearing hanbok. Take as many selfies or photos as you like while pretending to be a prince and princess in the palaces. Renting a hanbok is pretty easy around the palaces, especially Gyeongbokgung, and cheap considering that you get free entrance to the palaces when you wear a hanbok.

I would recommend going to Gyeongbokgung and then to Changdeokgung to make the full use of your hanboks as these two palaces’ entrance fees are more expensive than others (8,000 KRW for both palaces, including Changdeokgung’s Secret Garden entrance fee).

For Changdeokgung, there is a special tour that takes you to the secret garden part of the palace – this place cannot be accessed if you are not part of the tour. English tours are at 11:30, 13:30, 14:30 and 15:30 and each tour lasts 90 minutes, approximately. If you want to book a tour session in advance, you can do so here.

BEWARE: Do not go on this route on Mondays or Tuesdays as Changdeokgung is closed on Mondays and Gyeongbokgung is closed on Tuesdays.

After exploring the palaces, head to the street in between the two palaces and take a nice romantic stroll around Samcheongdong. Samcheondong is a place filled with cafes, restaurants and cute stores. I heard from my Korean friends that Samcheongdong is the number one dating spot for Koreans in Seoul. I only have photos of the area at night, will update the post with day photos soon 😉 Meanwhile go here to see Samcheongdong in the day. The nearest station to Samcheongdong, Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung is Angguk Station, Subway line 3.

An hour before the sunsets, head to Namsan Tower. Go to Myeongdong station and go to exit 4 or 3 to get to the cable car station. I would recommend walking from exit 4 as there is a lift a the bottom of the hill that takes you up to the station without any effort. If you use exit 3, you will end up climbing the slope up to the station. Up to you 😉 Directions to walk from both exits are below.

The ticket costs 8,500 KRW 2 ways for adults. Each ride takes around 3-4 minutes. You will get to enjoy the beautiful night view of Seoul in the cable car, so try to stand near the side as the ride can get pretty crowded.

Anyway, Namsan tower is known to be the place for couples to “lock” their love quite literally as they sign locks and hang it at the railings of the tower park area. You can also go up to the observatory and enjoy the beautiful 360-degrees night view of Seoul. Discounted tickets can be purchased here.

You can also have a romantic dinner with a nice view at Namsan, but honestly I’m not sure how the food will taste like. One thing for sure, it will be more expensive than having dinner at Myeongdong haha!

Adventurous Couple

For the adventurous couples out there, you can opt to do two things: Go to Seoul’s theme park or climb mountains.

There are two main theme parks near Seoul: Everland and Lotte World. Both offer different rides, but I think Everland is the bigger one and is better for couples whereas Lotte World is more for families and children. From end November to 31st of March, there’s even a romantic illumination display in Everland at night, perfect to close of a fun day in the theme park.

To get to Everland, take Yongin Ever Line at Giheung Station on Seoul’s Bundang Line to Jeondae Everland Station (last stop). Then, you can take the free shuttle bus from the station to get to Everland. Ever Line operates between 05:30 to 23:30 daily.

Entrance for adults costs 52000 KRW for the whole day. If you are lucky, you can get special deals on Trazy and get tickets with cheaper price like in this deal here.

Alternatively, go hike up one of the many mountains in Seoul. One of the most famous mountain to climb in Seoul is definitely Bukhansan. The hike roughly takes 4 – 5 hours to the top and back down, not a very long hike and perfect for a day date!

To get to the national park and hike, go to Gireum Station (Seoul Subway Line 4), Exit 3 and take Bus 110B or 143, and get off at the last bus stop.
